Content Management System (CMS)
User instructions
To edit your web page on line, open the page that you want to work on, click on "Admin Login" then use the password (created by you initially) to enter the editing facility.
You now have choices as to what you want to do. "Create new item - Upload image - Image List - Logout" etc.
After you have finished doing what you needed to achieve, select "save" This will return you to the "Overview" page as the public will see it.
Easy as that!!
Be sure to "Logout" of this page when you are finished editing.
Only if you are going to use images in your CMS pages:
Create a NEW FOLDER on your desk top and name it news-images (This is to hold any images that you may want to publish to your web page).
Now process your images. Resize to suit your page and save them as .jpg at a low resolution like you would send them in an email, and save them to this new folder. Larger images will be slower to load.
You must send any images that you want to use, to a folder of the same name (news-images) at your website host (remote site), otherwise the images will not show on your website.
If you are going to use images on your CMS page, you must use a File Transfer Protocol program like "WS_FTP" which is a free download from WebSpinna, and simple to use. Download from HERE. Install the program and set it up to open at your news-images folder on your computer. Use WS_FTP to send files to your host.
The FTP program should be set to open at the root folder on your remote site, by using the settings and passwords that were given to you by your host when you opened your hosting account with them. (usually something like public_html)
Once you are ready, run WS_FTP and send the images to your host. In the first instance send the whole folder to your host, thereafter send only new images to the news images folder.
Do not interfere with any files or folders on your remote site other than in the news-images folder. There may be a charge involved if we have to fix problems that can occur if you do not heed this warning!
Close the FTP program to disconnect from your host site.
Re-set WS_FTP to open at the news-images folder at the remote site.
Note: You only have to set up WS_FTP once. It will remember all of your settings.
